How to Enable Advanced Power Management
Follow
these steps to enable Advanced Power Management (APM) in Windows 2000 (W2K).
If APM is enabled, then when you choose to shutdown W2K, the system will
power off. Similar to a shutdown in Windows 9x.
First,
make sure you're login as the administrator to the local machine. Then bring up the Control Panel by clicking on the Start button and select Settings / Control Panel.
Then double click on the Power Options icon.
This
will bring up the Power Options Properties menu. Click on the APM tab at the top.
Select
the "Enable Advanced Power Management support" checkbox and click OK. Now when
you shutdown W2K, the system will automatically power itself off. If you don't want this,
then simply clear the checkbox.
