These FAQs assumed you're familiar enough with each operating system to install/uninstall video drivers, configuring the system for standard VGA display, etc.

ATI Xpert@Work/Play / XpertXL / Xpert98 / 3D Charger AGP

  • Windows NT 4.0: Before you can install the ATI NT 4.0 driver (675K), you must install Microsoft's NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 (18.4MB).
  • Windows NT 4.0: If a specific resolution is limited to a specific refresh rate (i.e., 800x600 limited to only 85Hz), then you need to install the ATI build 5.0.113 NT driver (622K). This issue is documented on ATI site as INFO-BASE # 2996.
  • Windows 9x: If you are experiencing random system lock ups when using Internet Explorer 4.0 or Microsoft Works, then you must update your ATI drivers to version 5.20 (2.7MB).

    ATI 3D Pro Turbo PC2TV

  • Windows 95: If, after installing Windows 95, you get a black or scrambled video screen, restart the system and hit F8 to go into Safe Mode. Set display adapter to Standard VGA, restart Windows 95, and then load the ATI driver.
  • Windows NT 4.0: During the NT installation video display test, if you get a black screen during the test, simply reset the system. When you get to the video display test again, hit the cancel button this time. Finish installing NT and then load the ATI NT drivers.

    Diamond Stealth II S220

  • Windows 95: After loading Diamond's Win 95 driver and restarting the system, the screen is blank (the monitor is in green mode--i.e., yellow LED) even though Win 95 is loading in the background. This is because the refresh rate is set incorrectly. Update your Win 95 driver to version 1.05 (2.1MB).
