UltraDMA/33 FAQ
What is UltraDMA/33 Technology?

UltraDMA/33 logo UltraDMA/33 (or UltraATA) is a new type of IDE controller and hard disk drive (HDD) that allows transfer rate of up to 33MB/sec. Traditional IDE controllers and HDDs' maximum transfer rate is approximately 16MB/sec under multi-word DMA mode 2.

So what do you need to enable UltraDMA/33 on your system? UltraDMA/33 will be enabled if these three conditions are met:

  • Your system board has an UltraDMA controller (usually Intel PIIX4)
  • Your HDD is UltraDMA compliant
  • You have loaded the UltraDMA driver for your operating system

Currently, the following PREMIO system boards are UltraDMA compliant: PREMIO Value Series (201A), TX (200E), TX2 (200F), LX (212B).

Click here to download the Intel PIIX4 UltraDMA driver (1.2MB) for Windows 95/NT/OS/2. This is for Intel PIIX4 based boards. Please extract the file with the -D switch!

Click here to download ALi M15xx UltraDMA driver (188K) for all operating systems. This is for the PREMIO Value Series (201A) board. Please extract the file with the -D switch!
