    BIOS Questions

    How do I get into the BIOS setup?

  • Keep hitting the DELETE key during the system memory count.

    Do you have a BIOS history file that includes the problem(s) fixed for each revision of the BIOS?

  • Yes, click here for the file.

    How do I update or flash my BIOS?

  • Updated BIOS are available on our FTP site.

    I can't flash my BIOS; it hangs after I enter the BIOS filename.

  • If you have any USB peripherals plugged in, unplug them first and try flashing the BIOS.
  • Reconnect the USB devices after the flashing the BIOS.

    I'm running Windows 9x and plug & play doesn't seem to work.

  • Go into the BIOS's PCI/PnP Configuration and enable the PnP OS option.

    I need to allocate a specific IRQ (interrupt request) and/or DMA channel for an ISA card.

  • Go into the BIOS's PCI/PnP Configuration and set Resource Controlled By from Auto to Manual.
  • A list of IRQs and DMA channels will appear; set the required IRQ number from PCI/PnP to Legacy/ISA.

    How do I clear the CMOS? How do I clear the BIOS password?

  • Power off your system, move JBAT1 to 2-3 and leave it there for 2 or 3 seconds.
  • Move JBAT1 back to 1-2 and power up your system.
  • Refer to the system board diagram for the location of JBAT1 (it's right next to the onboard battery).

    I have flashed my BIOS, but now I get no video!

  • Try clearing your CMOS (see above).
  • Make sure you've flashed it using the correct BIOS for your system board; flashing a wrong BIOS will render the board inoperable.

    Hardware Questions

    Can I display DVD movies on a TV using the TV output connector?

  • No, the software DVD player does NOT allow you to display the DVD movie to a TV.

    How do I enable the IR (infrared) connector?

  • The infra-red device ONLY WORKS WITH WINDOWS 98/98SE; it does NOT work with Windows 95 or NT!
  • Double click on the small red IR icon IR icon (located in the lower right hand corner next to the clock).
  • Click on the Options tab and check the "Enable infrared communication" checkbox; click on the OK button.

    I've enabled the IR sensor, but now I'm hearing a continuous beeping sound from my speakers.

  • Double click on the Ensoniq volume control panel and MUTE the LINE setting.

    I'm having trouble transferring data between the PC my and IR device.

  • Find out the maximum transfer speed of your IR device. Most digital cameras are limited to 38.4K
  • Double click on the small red IR icon IR icon (located in the lower right hand corner next to the clock), and click on the Options tab.
  • Check the "Limit Connection speed to:" box and use the dropdown menu to select the maximum speed.
  • Click on the OK button and try transferring the data again.

    How do I disable the onboard Creative Labs ES1373 PCI sound?

  • Keep hitting the DELETE key at bootup to go into the Award BIOS setup menu.
  • Go to Integrated Peripherals and set Onboard Sound to disabled.

    Can I upgrade to more than 8MB SDRAM video memory?

  • No, the Telesto3 video memory is fixed at 8MB SDRAM.

    I've turned the system on, but I'm getting no power (i.e., power supply fan does not spin).

  • Make sure the cable from the case's power switch is connected properly to the board's power on jumper; refer to the motherboard manual.
  • Try reseating the ATX power connector to the motherboard.
  • Disconnect all the power connectors to your HDD, FDD, CD-ROM, etc. then try powering the system up.
  • Try replacing the ATX power supply.

    I have two USB ports in the back, how do I enable them?

  • Windows NT 4.0 currently do not support USB.
  • Windows 98 comes with native USB drivers.
  • Windows 95 (version 950B/950C only!) can enable the USB ports by getting the Microsoft USB driver and Intel USB INF update.

    Can I use just one DIMM?

  • Yes, the system board will work with one DIMM.

    What is the Telesto3 maximum memory capacity?

  • 256MB: Using two 128MB SDRAM DIMMs.

    What kind of DIMMs should I use?

  • The PREMIO Telesto3 system only accepts unbuffered, tin leads, 3.3V SDRAM DIMM only.

    I have a PnP soundcard and PnP modem, but I'm getting conflicts.

  • It's recommended that you let the modem take COM2 (2F8h/IRQ3); see the question below.
  • And set the soundcard at 220h/IRQ5/DMA1, if possible.
  • Also, try adding the card in one at all time; put the soundcard in first, let 95 detect it, then add the modem.

    I have a plug and play modem, how do I setup it for COM2 in Windows 95?

  • Disable serial port 2 in the BIOS and remove the COM2 port, if present, in Windows 95's Device Manager.
