    BIOS Questions

Do you have a BIOS history file that includes the problem(s) fixed for each revision of the BIOS?

  • Yes, click here for the file.

How do I flash or upgrade my BIOS?

  • Updated BIOS are available on our FTP site.

I'm running Windows 9x and plug & play doesn't seem to work.

  • Go into the BIOS's PC/PnP Configuration and enable the PnP OS option.

How do I clear the CMOS? How do I clear the BIOS password?

  • Power off your system, move JBAT1 (located next to the BIOS chip) to 2-3 and leave it there for 2 or 3 seconds.
  • Move JBAT1 back to 1-2 and power up your system.

I flashed my BIOS, but now I get no video.

  • Try clearing your CMOS (see above).

How come the options I see in the BIOS doesn't always match the ones in the manual?

  • Because BIOS are updated constantly, the manual cannot always keep up with the changes.

    Hardware Questions

I have a Pentium II/333 and have set SW1 correctly, but it always shows up as Pentium II/133MHz in the BIOS.

  • Check your processor and make sure it is not a Pentium II/300.
  • Overclocking a 300 to 333 will show up as 133 in the BIOS.

With an AGP video card present, sometimes I get no video even though the system seems to be booting.

  • This may be because the AGP card isn't seated properly in the AGP slot.
  • Make sure the middle DIMM socket brackets are in the upright, locked position. The brackets may block the AGP card if they are left in the open position.

I've turned the system on, but I'm getting no power (i.e., power supply fan does not even spin).

  • Make sure the wire from your power switch is connected properly to the motherboard; see the motherboard manual.
  • Try reseating the ATX power connector to the motherboard.
  • Disconnect all power connectors to your HDD, FDD, CD-ROM, etc. then try to turn the system on.

I have two USB ports in the back, how do I get them to work?

  • Windows NT 4.0 currently do not support USB.
  • Windows 98 have native support for USB.
  • Windows 95 (version 950B or 950C) can enable the USB ports by getting the Microsoft USB driver and the Intel USB INF update.

Can I use just one DIMM?

  • Yes, the system board will work with just one DIMM present.

What kind of DIMMs should I use?

  • The PREMIO LX system board only takes unbuffered 3.3V DIMM SDRAM.

I have a PnP soundcard and PnP modem, but I'm getting conflicts.

  • It's recommended that you let the modem take COM2 (2F8h/IRQ3); see the question below.
  • And set the soundcard at 220h/IRQ5/DMA1, if possible.
  • Also, try adding the card in one at all time; put the soundcard in first, let 95 detect it, then add the modem.

I have a plug and play modem, how do I setup it for COM2 in Windows 95?

  • Disable serial port 2 in the BIOS and remove the COM2 port, if present, in Windows 95's Device Manager.

    What are SPD DIMMs?

  • SPD is serial presence detect. SPD DIMM has an EPROM that tells the system board the optimal memory setting for the DIMM. SPD DIMMs may or may not be faster than conventional DIMMs.

I get no video; how do I troubleshoot it?

  • Try reseating your video cards, memory, and CPU; or try swapping out the components.
  • Remove all the add-on cards. Leave only memory and CPU and turn on the system. The system should beep. If it doesn't, then you have a defective motherboard.
